Summary: Sci-fi at it's best
Comment: Not a sci-fi movie for todays generation which is a shame. Gore, violence and explosions traded in for acting, atmosphere and great story telling. One of my favorite movies. And as for the "editorial review", Gort didn't destroy Washington. Get it right and get this movie.

Summary: The Day the Earth Stood Still
Comment: This is a classic film from the 1950's. The first time I saw it was on the late late show in the mid 50's. I am wondering how the new version will stack up to this giant!

Summary: A Classic!
Comment: I remember in the good old days, Saturday Night At The Movies aired this film on TV for the very first time. My family sat riveted to our RCA B&W 21-in. set. I look forward to getting this DVD. A great story line far outweighs any special effects in this movie. Why oh why do the boors in Hollywood persist in trying to redo classic films (War Of The Worlds was totally horrendous compared to the original). I shudder to think what they do to this. I encourage people with minds to get this film.

Summary: How is this blu ray?
Comment: Im wondering how they make a black and white movie into blu ray?Im guessing they colorize it first and then turn it into a blu ray movie.I cant imagine how this will look seeing as it was a black and white movie to begin with.

The Day The Earth Stood Still depicts the arrival of an alien dignitary, Klaatu (Michael Rennie), who has come to earth with his deadly robot, Gort (Lock Martin), to deliver the message that earthlings must stop warring among themselves--or else. After being shot at by military guards, Klaatu is brought to a Washington, D.C. hospital, where he begs a sympathetic but frank Major White (Robert Osterloh) to gather all the world's leaders so he can tell them more specifically what he has come to warn them about. Losing patience, Klaatu slips into the human world, adapting a false identity and living at a boarding house where he meets a smart woman with a conscience and her inquisitive son. Both mother and son soon find themselves embroiled in the complex mystery of Klaatu, his message and the government's witch hunt for the alien.
