Comment: I have a confession - I'm relatively new to Cold Case, and only happened to watch an episode by accident a few weeks ago. It was from Season 1, and I've been hooked ever since. I've started Tivo-ing the episodes [mostly reruns and the new season] and I'm amazed at the quality of this show. Kathryn Morris is simply awesome as Det Lilly Rush whose fierce commitment to solve old crime cases and determination to see justice done [and closure provided for the victims] shines through in every single performance. Just tonight, I watched "Daniela" and right at the end, when the music of the 70s comes on [a sentimental song by Bread], tears just streamed down my face - this is the show's hold on me. Every single episode I've watched has a heart-wrenching effect on me, and the music is so evocative of the time period in a particular episode [be it the 40s, 50s, 60, 70s or 80s] that the music is as much a part of the show as is the plot and acting [not to mention the authentic costumes used in the flashback episodes]. All the elements blend together seamlessly to provide one of the best viewing experiences on television. Unfortunately, I notice that this show is in its fourth season and still no sign of Season 1 on DVD - just like another favorite TV show of mine "The Wonder Years" - both have heavy use of music and licensing must be holding up their release on DVD. That is just too bad - quality shows that viewers would love to own but not released, yet we have drivel out on DVDs. I sincerely hope to see Cold Case on DVD someday soon, but till then, I shall diligently Tivo each and every available episode! Comment: I have not missed a single episode of Cold Case. It's by far the best TV show to date. I can't wait for it to come out on DVD. But when it does, it better have the songs. Somehow the music makes the TV series ten times as good even if I don't like the chosen songs for the episode. Hopefully it last a few more seasons. Customer Rating: Summary: Cut Off Your Nose To Spite Your Face Comment: Cold Case is and has been my #1 favorite show. And I, like the rest of you, have been waiting four years for the DVD. I've seen this happen before. American Dreams, the story of a girl who goes to Bandstand in Philadelophia, also had a lot of music. The DVD of the second season was never released because of the greed of the music rights holders. I guess they're satisfied getting nothing rather than what they have been offered. Customer Rating: Summary: Love this show!!! Comment: One of the best shows ever!! I can't wait for it to come out on DVD. One reviewer mentioned the music and I have to totally agree. If the original songs and music are not used it will ruin the series. It is a very important part of its appeal and the end song kind of pulls everything together. On a recent rerun the end song was "Broken Hearted Me" by Anne Murray. It was very touching. Unfortunately one of the reasons to love this show may be the reason it is not on DVD. There are many shows that cannot be released due to copyright issues. From what I understand that is one of the reasons that another great show "China Beach" is not available on DVD. Let's just hope that whatever the problems are they are resolved so this wonderful show will be released to its adoring public, with the original music!!!!!!!
