Customer Rating: Summary: Cadfael is wonderful! Comment: I watched Cadfael as a child on PBS and am very happy to have the series in my video collection. Before buying this product I read several other reviews in which the buyers complained about the video quality not being up to date. No it is not remastered; however the episodes have the same feel and charm as when they were made. If you love murder mysteries and medieval Europe you will enjoy Cadfael.
Customer Rating: Summary: Cadfael Mysteries are A#1 Comment: I am buying this collection for my wife for Christmas, as it was the only thing she asked for. She became a fan way back when this series first aired on PBS and finally got me hooked with all her ravings about how wonderful the stories were and how great a job they did shooting the locale of this Abbey. I dare not leave out the superb acting. Derek Jacobi truly brings this monk to life as no one else could.
Any rating less than 5 Stars on The Cadfael Series tells you those people just don't get it.
Customer Rating: Summary: Great Series Comment: I found this series to be very well done. Cadfael is one of my favorites. If you like a mystery that is not easily solved you will like these. The acting is excellent. Unlike some other reviews I found nothing wrong with the picture. I recommend them to anyone who enjoys British mysteries.
Customer Rating: Summary: The Cadfael Collection Comment: These are just beautifully done mysteries. Derek Jacobi plays Cadfael, a
Benedictine monk in England and Wales in the 12th century. Alot of great
guest stars and the murder mysteries themselves are cleverly done. Crime
detection done without modern science, but with observation and knowledge
of herbs, poisons and human nature. The scenery is great, the acting is
superb. I highly recommend these stories, all 75 minutes in length. A
great adaption of the original Ellis Peters books.
Customer Rating: Summary: A DVD for All Seasons Comment: The Brother Cadfael mystries were in my opinion one of the finer BBC book adeptations ever, so I did not hesitiate when the complete collection was available on DVD. I do have a post-production complaint however: Acorn saw fit to add Engish subtitles to an English script! It was not necessary, the accents are not that heavy. The subtitles only serve as a distration to a well produced series. There should have been a "hide" feature built in so those of us who didn't want the subtitles did not have to be stuck with them.
