Customer Rating: Summary: Steven King's "It" Comment: I got two copis and gave them away for Christmas presents. You can't go wrong with Steven King.
Customer Rating: Summary: IT Comment: Not on par with The Stand, but still a pretty good movie. It was actually a lot better then I had anticipated. Obviously not as detailed as the book - what movie is - but definitely worth adding to your Stephen King collection!
Customer Rating: Summary: They all float... Comment: I first saw It when I was about 11 when my brother and I rented it from the video store. I had always been a tad frightened of clowns and thanks to this movie (and the book), I'm now completely afraid of them! Well not as much as I used to be, but It was definitely a large contributing factor.
Onto the movie... I thought that for the most part, especially because It was a made-for-TV movie that it captured the major themes from the book. Now I had watched this before reading the book. After reading the book I watched the movie again and came to find that several things were left out, probably due to what is allowed to be shown on television (this was not broadcast on cable, I believe it was on ABC) but I thought some of the acting could have been better than it was.
The one person who I thought really shined (no pun intended to Stephen King's other incredible novel....) was Tim Curry. I was in total disbelief that he was this demonic clown! Who knew he is able to delve into rather disturbing roles! He didn't sound like himself at all (no accent); his voice was really distorted but that made him all the more scary which really worked in his favor and the movie's favor as well.
Everyone else did a pretty good job, and casting Richard Thomas in the main role of Bill was a wise decision. I saw this before John Ritter passed away and thought he was excellent as well. Now when I watch the movie I always get a little sad when I see him, especially if I watch with the commentary. Tim Reid was a good choice for Mike but at times I thought he overacted a bit. Still it was fun to see the dad from Sister-Sister in something much darker.
As for the plot, a lot of things that were in the book were not included here which made for some holes. We are never told where It really came from like we are in the book. That was a rather important plot point that should have been here and if Stephen King had been a part of this adaptation, I'm sure he would have included it.
Bottom line: if you are a horror fan (and don't mind the lack of special effects; this was made in 1990 after all) you'll most likely enjoy this adaptation of Stephen King's It.
You'll never feel the same way about clowns again.....
Customer Rating: Summary: Stephen King's It DVD Comment: I bought this item .
Because I saw the movie via DVD rental .
From my local Blockbuster video rental store.
The story I thought is very good.
unlike most horror movie's /which I'm a big fan of the genra.
This movie has a very good story to it.
Eventhough the DVD rental was quite watchable I had a little troube with it skipping and freezing up/but it was still good enough fore me to descover a classic.
So I could not find the movie in my area.
So I looked online and found it on Amazon.
So I bought it online .
The DVD is in much better condition then the copy that I rented.
I had no trouble at all with it and was delighted that the movie s also widesscreen.
A aspect raio that I much prefer over Full screen.
Anyone who is thinking of buying this DVD can't go wrong with Amazon .com.
I'm very satisfied with my purcase from Amazon.

Customer Rating: Summary: It Comment: I only watched one side because I didn't realize it was two sided. The Side I watched was when they are older. It was ok, but I've heard the other side is much better.

Based on the King Of Horror's 1986 Best Seller, "It" is a jittery, jolting excursion into personal fear. "It" raises goosebumps-and brings out the stars. Harry Anderson, Dennis Christopher, Annette O'Toole, Tim Reid, John Ritter, Tim Curry and Richard Thomas star in this thriller about a malevolent force in a small New England town.
