Based loosely on the actual events that created the real music group "The Village People," the movie follows a song writer Jack Morell, played by Steve Guttenberg, who puts together a male singing group based on macho male stereotypes. Anyway, it's a hoot of a movie filled with double-entendres and lots of images of hot athletic men wearing the tightest short-shorts ever! Viewing the movie now it's hard to believe that this was intended for the general public. The movie includes, what has to be one of the earliest music videos ever, the Village People performing "YMCA" at--where else--the YMCA. A fun movie to watch, just don't expect "Citizen Kane."
