Customer Rating: Summary: calle 54 Comment: This is one of the most amazing dvds of any kind of music, there is a incredible amount of talent I would said AWSOME showmanship
Customer Rating: Summary: CALLE 54 Comment: This disk is exceptional in all regards. Enjoyable, instructive, educational and moving. History, passion and incredible music throughout. It provides repeated enjoyment for both musicians and listeners.
Customer Rating: Summary: A must-see film!! Comment: "Calle 54" is an excellent example of how a music documentary should be made: emphasis on the music and very little narration. The focus is on the musicians and their music. From the beginning of the film, where we listen to the inimitable Paquito D'Rivera to the touching duet between Bebo and Chucho Valdes at the end, Fernando Trueba allows us to experience the virtuosity of these excellent musicians unobstructed by over-the-top narration. My personal favorite scenes were the segments on Eliane Elias and Michel Camilo. What great musicians! You can clearly see that they enjoy what they do, and their passion and enthusiasm for their music is contagious! You would have to be a rock not to find yourself tapping your foot to the music.
If this film does not serve to introduce newcomers to the wonder of latin jazz, then I don't know what will.
Customer Rating: Summary: Ultimate Latin Jazz Comment: Excellent DVD covering the history of Latin Jazz - quality production, excellent performances. Most enjoyable
Customer Rating: Summary: The olympus of latin music. Comment: This is just the best compilation of latin stars performing some of the most representative mainstreams in current latin jazz music. The film is deep, hot, profoundly touching and absolutely powerful.

A behind the scenes glimpse into the lives of Grammy Award winner Tito Puente and some of the greatest Latin musicians of our times! Experience the passion of Latin Jazz. It is a musical journey that captures the heart and soul of an entire culture. It is an innovative tapestry of sound and imagery, styles and rhythms-from samba to pambiche to flamenco.
