Customer Rating: Summary: House of 1000 Corpses??? Comment: I heard a lot about the movie being gore and violent. However, It was a disappointment in the storyline and didnt quite get the story at the end.
The dvd release of the movie is really good with its interactive menu and lots of extras. Its a good buy if you lower your expectations for the movie.
Overall,it is entertaining at certain parts and due to its clarity and great sound,it kept me going.
If you are looking for something out of the ordinary, then its worth a buy.
Minus the storyline, the rest is good.
Customer Rating: Summary: Appreciate this guy! Comment: Fans of 70's schlock, or thrillers should be on their knees thanking Rob Zombie. Here's a guy who's love for that "time" in history for movies of this nature propelled him to do something about it. He borrows from everyone who inspired him and doesn't try to hide it. Of course, the first movie that came to mind was "Texas Chainsaw Massacre". Throw 10 others in the stew and you have a killer, nostalgia drenched ride that is as silly and stupid as it is fun. The reviews total over 600 so I won't get into plots, but my take is if you have a good sense of humour, and popcorn in the house, pop this baby in on a Friday night.
Customer Rating: Summary: Awesome Comment: A great first start for Rob Zombie. I was waiting for this for years and finally saw it a couple of times in the theater. A can't miss for horror/slag fans!
Customer Rating: Summary: Better when I understood how Rob works Comment: The first time I saw House Of 1000 Corpses, I was left more disoriented and confused than entertained. It wasn't until I saw the sequel and got into Rob Zombie's entire world - his music, his music videos, his own taste in films, that I "got it" and it all clicked into place. Once that happened, the film was a lot more entertaining.
The entire thing is a mishmash of homages to black and white horror films, psychedelic nightmares and horror history. The story is simple, but Rob presents it in his own wonderfully messed up way, turning it into something a lot more surreal, vulgar, unique and entertaining than most of your standard horror films.
Before he mastered it, Rob showed a knack at making unsympathetic, distasteful and funny characters. They're so filthy and quirky in every and all ways that you never know what the heck is coming next, and it makes for some memorably corny dialogue and a few great suprises along the way. In a traditionally cinematic sense, the film is a complete trainwreck. It has no subtleties, and there is no great acting moment or inspired writing.
If you're looking for a special and unique horror experience, look no further. This is Rob's very own freakshow, spawned from centuries of b-movie cinema and all the classic rock you can handle. It's crazy, so check your sanity at the door and enjoy the ride.
Customer Rating: Summary: Ode to the classics Comment: Blu-Ray transfer was solid. No complaints.
The movie is good if you like 70's style horror. I think it pays homage to some of the classics well. At its heart it is a horror movie with some plot holes but who watches horror for the story?
